The Toledo Harbor Lighthouse Preservation Society’s 19th annual waterfront festival at Maumee Bay State Park is set from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday inside the amphitheater near the park’s inland beach. The festival, which the all-volunteer society hosts to help fund its ongoing restoration of the historic lighthouse, features arts and crafts, live music, a silent auction, food, children’s games, and historical talks. Admission and parking are free. Donations of $5 are requested.

FREMONT — Wander among the branches of a yellow buckeye or a bur oak tree at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums, and you'll notice a number of tiny doors that have been mounted to mimic fictional squirrels’ homes. “They’re kind of like fairy doors,” said Kristina Smith, the marketing and communications manager at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums, referring to miniature doors believed to offer a passageway into the fairy realm.

SANDUSKY — The Merry-Go-Round Museum is a dizzying experience. Built inside a large, round, pillaredbuilding that formerly housed a post office, it’s a shrine and salute to the world’s most popular carnival ride: the merry-go-round. The ruler of this magic kingdom of carved wooden animals is Bonnie Behm. Ms. Behm has worked at the museum for eight years, and her modest job titles of gift shop manager and volunteer coordinator belies her vast amount of knowledge about the ride.
