Steven Stone’s Biography

Steven Stone has been a professional writer and photographer since 1974. He attended Boston University's School of Communications where he received a B/S in Photo-Journalism. After college Stone pursued a course of post-graduate studies with John Benson at ImageWorks in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he also studied with Lisette Model, Carl Chiarenza, Art Kane, Emmett Gowin, and Arnold Newman.

Steven Stone has been a monthly columnist, music reviewer, and feature writer for Vintage Guitar Magazine http://www.vintageguitar.com since 1996. His audio-related articles can be seen at The Absolute Sound.com http://www.theabsolutesound.com where he is a senior editor. Stone also edits his own audiophile website, AudiophileReview.com http://audiophilereview.com. He’s has also written for Stereophile, Spin and Creem Magazines.

Stone’s editorial photography has appeared in Business Week, The New York Times, Newsweek, Boston Magazine, W, The Absolute Sound, and many other publications. His personal photography is in the collections of the Library of Congress, Biblioteque National of France, and many private collections. Although Stone no longer actively solicits new clients he still retains several high-visibility commercial photography accounts.

Mr. Stone is also a recording engineer who specializes in symphony orchestras and acoustic music using purist recording techniques. He recorded the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra for twenty-two years from 1992 to 2014.
