Trump's war with Iran has been a tragic and expensive waste of time
The meandering and staggeringly contradictory news conference, and the trumpeting of a "deal" that amounts to something so far short of that. Read more: What's in the US-Iran agreement? And then, just as the day ended, we were told that Trump had signed the "deal" – which added to the bewilderment. Because an "administration official" (you can guess who) told us on Monday that Trump had signed the "deal" on Sunday (remotely – with the autopen he's spent every week bashing Biden about?).
The not-so-subtle messaging in the King's speech
A fascinating speech by King Charles, one full of subtle and some not-so-subtle messaging. It was delivered carefully, with respect, with spades of humour and with both history and politics threaded through it. A few immediate takeaways. As it happened:King gives pointed messages after talks with Trump Religion His references to interfaith dialogue are not a surprise – it's an issue he feels very strongly about, not least because he is head of the Church of England.

Trump swings from gushing praise for King to scathing criticism of Starmer in five-minute call with Sky News
The president and I spoke an hour after Buckingham Palace announced details of King Charles and Queen Camilla's state visit to the United States. Over five minutes he swung from gushing praise for the King to scathing criticism for the prime minister. He rejected any suggestion that by criticising the government he is making the King's visit awkward. His tone and his language revealed to me how distinctly he differentiates Britain's royals from its politicians.

He rejected any suggestion that by criticising the government he is making the King's visit awkward. His tone and his language revealed to me how distinctly he differentiates Britain's royals from its politicians. He also revealed that he did not know that the King's visit is taking place at the request of the government. Our call took place at just after 6:30pm on Tuesday evening.

West Cornwall's Local Radio Station
Donald Trump says the US has received a "workable" 10-point plan from Iran after the two countries agreed to a two-week ceasefire, labelling it a "complete victory" for his nation. The US president exclusively told Sky News' US correspondent Mark Stone that many of the points were "very good" and that most had already been fully negotiated. But Stone and US correspondent Martha Kelner have said a version of the plans shared by Iranian media would prove a "massive strategic defeat" for the US.
Has Trump given his biggest indication he's done with the Iran war? Don't take anything for certain
There've been a flurry of overnight developments. The caveat, up front, is that this is a president who changes his mind and has delivered very mixed messages in recent weeks. He also sees real value in saying one thing and doing the opposite. He bluffs. That said, his language is more definitive than before. It feels more than ever like an "off-ramp" from his "Iranexcursion" as he calls it.
Trump fooled by fake AI video - and three other takeaways from his latest appearances
Here are four: Inconsistencies over discussions with the Iranians The US president has said a few times over recent hours that dialogue with the Iranians is ongoing. "They want to make a deal," he said on the plane back to Washington DC on Sunday night, repeating it again on Monday. But when asked the obvious questions - "Who are you talking to that wants to make a deal?" and "what does a deal look like?" - the president couldn't answer.

Trump bumps up global tariffs - creating more mess and uncertainty for the world
The president has announced a tariff of 15% globally. Now you might be thinking "didn't he set it at 10% on Friday?" Yes he did. But now he's raised it to 15%. The latest pronouncement came - on Truth Social, of course - just before lunchtime on Saturday. Here's the full post and we've highlighted the key bits: What does all this mean? It's a good question and one which governments globally are asking themselves, not for the first time.

A Dark and Stormy Night
It is a dark and stormy night as a group of five friends arrive at the steps of decrepit mansion.
It's genuinely frightening to wonder where America goes next
Everything here feels torn in two; different sides so far apart and so alarmed at the behaviour of the other. It's genuinely frightening to wonder where this might go next. I've spent the past few days in Minneapolis as the midwestern city absorbed the killing of Alex Pretti. The voices on the streets there echo. "Leave us alone. We don't need y'all here.
