Norman City leaders gathered Tuesday evening to discuss the future of a more than billion-dollar entertainment district east of Interstate 35. It comes after a judge canceled a public vote over how to fund the project. This is the first of two meetings to roll out a vision for the area, and how it will be paid for. University of Oklahoma leaders say the facility is needed to stay competitive in the Southeastern Conference.

The husband of a Norman baker who died in the Cleveland County Jail in 2022 plans to refile a federal lawsuit after it was thrown out last month, according to his attorney. Shannon Hanchett, known by many in Norman as the ‘Cookie Queen,’ died 12 days after being arrested during a mental health crisis. Daniel Hanchett filed a federal lawsuit earlier this year, claiming his wife’s constitutional rights were violated.

An embattled Oklahoma Judge accused of two drive-by shootings and sexual misconduct inside the courthouse faced a preliminary hearing Friday. But, not before new court documents suggest he suffers from a rare brain disorder. Nearly a year ago, Special District Judge Lovell was accused of shooting at parked cars in Austin, Texas in a fit of road rage. There, he’s facing eight felony charges and has not yet entered a plea.
