GARRETT — Garrett Fire Chief Doug Castator expressed disappointment that the Board of Works earlier this month denied a request for city property for a proposed training facility. The request was presented at the board’s May 21 meeting. On June 2, the Board of Works made its decision to deny the request. Castator made his comments at the board’s June 16 meeting. Board member Dave Demske was not present at the June 2 meeting.

GARRETT — Following weeks of discussion and a public hearing at its June 16 meeting, the Garrett Common Council adopted a municipal wheel tax ordinance. The council introduced the measure in May. The ordinance provides a wheel tax, excise surtax and municipal wheel tax fund.
