1 Introduction Earth system modeling has become an indispensable tool in climate science, serving as a cornerstone for understanding the intricate feedback and interactions within the climate system (Bonan & Doney, 2018; Hurrell et al., 2013). These comprehensive models integrate atmospheric, oceanic, terrestrial, and cryospheric components, enabling researchers to simulate past, present, and future climate conditions with increasing fidelity (M. Collins et al., 2013; Flato, 2011).

Editors’ Vox is a blog from AGU’s Publications Department. Atmospheric ice-nucleating particles (INPs) play a critical role in the formation of ice in clouds and thus impact precipitation experienced on the Earth’s surface, as well as climate by changing the amount of sunlight clouds reflect. However, much is still unknown about these particles, such as their sources and impacts on clouds.

Americans overwhelmingly want Congress to enact laws that make it harder for guns to fall into the wrong hands: for example, 97 percent of Americans support universal background checks. In the wake of the recent, tragic Parkland school shooting, the need for action to prevent gun violence and keep our children and communities safe from such tragedies moved thousands of local residents to turn out in support of student-led March For Our Lives rallies in both the Tri-Cities and Yakima on March 24.
