Early aughts millennial nostalgia makes for an entertaining novel that lacks real depth. It’s February 2010, and 29-year-old singer-guitarist Maggie Corbin is driving her beat-up Corolla back to her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. In the rearview: her old band, Spinning Birds, on the verge of possibly making it—and her former band mate and newly minted ex, Matt Turkish. Ahead of her, a dark highway, the promise of a rented room from Craigslist, and the ghosts of her past.
