A New York woman was arrested Wednesday in connection with running a sex trafficking ring that brought women from outside the U.S. to work in her brothels in Boston, the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney's Office announced. On June 24, a federal grand jury in Boston indicted 40-year-old Zengzeng "Bella" Liu, of Flushing, on one count of knowingly persuading an individual to travel in interstate commerce to engage in prostitution, federal prosecutors said in a Thursday press release.

A town-wide power outage has left Marblehead residents without air conditioning Thursday evening amid the peak of this week’s dangerous heat wave. The Marblehead Municipal Lighting Department is aware of the issue and is working to address it, Marblehead police wrote on Facebook just before 4 p.m. A cooling station has been opened at Brown Elementary School, located at 40 Baldwin Rd., police said. As of 6:45 p.m., the temperature in Marblehead was 93 degrees.

Prosecutors identify suspect, victim in Berlin shooting that led to police standoff on I-495 Original

Prosecutors have identified a suspect in a fatal shooting at a Berlin shopping plaza that led to a standoff with police on Interstate 495 in Lowell on Tuesday, as well as the man they say he killed. The suspect, who is believed to have taken his own life during the standoff, was identified on Thursday by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office as 43-year-old Edward Pyne, of Salem, New Hampshire.
