When Farmers get bored with battling through the Mines, chucking various items at villagers in the name of romance, or foraging through Stardew Valley'svast variety of landscapes, there are always the surrounding waters to keep them busy. New players should beware though, as mastering Fishing isn't as simple as casting a line and crossing their fingers.

Stardew Valley players can befriend residents for benefits like recipes and quests, but they should think twice before gifting specific items to certain villagers. Poppy is a no-go for most villagers except for Penny. Bug Steak is useful early on but not appreciated as a gift, and Oil of Garlic is too valuable to gift to anyone.

Stardew Valley tends to draw in gamers who like to choose their own adventure, as its many different mechanisms for improvement and low stakes make a player's time in the world feel truly their own. Foraging has its own skill meter for the Farmer to build. Every discovered item adds more XP and extra value to the next trip beyond the Farm's fences.
