OC Iyengars and Iyers recorded the highest incidence of child marriages in Telangana at 21.2%, and OC Jains at 11%, according to the Socio, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste Survey (SEEEPC). The survey notes that these figures are significantly higher than the State average of 5%, which translates to approximately 2.16 lakh girls below the age of 18 being married in Telangana.
