Explicit Understanding of Duration Develops Implicitly through Action

Action and time are mutually beneficial. Action improves timing, and temporal predictability optimises action. Temporal features of action help children implicitly construct an explicit and flexible representation of time. Neuroanatomical, neurophysiological, and neurochemical systems typically associated with action are thereby co-opted to process duration.
