The Government's pledge to have the whole country's social housing stock inspected by 2030 is set to fail with less than 10% of the properties checked in the last two years. The inspection rate has been particularly bad in Cork, where just 185 (1.6%) of the 11,850 homes have been audited by the local authority since 2024, according to data from the Department of Housing. Audits of social housing stock were first announced in 2022, getting underway two years later.
