Victim of June 18 fatal crash with dump truck in Appleton identified

July 1, 2026, 5:29 p.m. CT The woman who died in a June 18 crash on Appleton's east side was identified on July 1 by police. Victoria Wagner, 61, of Menasha, was stopped in westbound traffic on Calumet Street when a heavy-duty wrecker towing a dump truck exited State 441 onto Calumet. The wrecker struck the median, causing the dump truck to detach, overturn and hit Wagner's vehicle, according to a press release from the Appleton Police Department. Wagner died from her injuries at the scene.

Interstate 41 on, off ramps to close June 29 on Appleton's north side

Northbound drivers on Interstate 41 can no longer exit at Richmond Street/State 47 to access Appleton, or enter the interstate from this interchange. The ramps along the southern side of the interstate closed June 29, and will remain closed until fall, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The on- and off-ramps serving the southbound I-41 lanes will follow in a few weeks, though the department has not yet announced their closing date.
