The antidepressant-like activity of AC-5216, a ligand for 18KDa translocator protein (TSPO), in an animal model of diabetes mellitus

This study was initiated with the objective of evaluating the role of TSPO and allopregnanolone biosynthesis in the treatment of depression in T2DM. Antidepressant-like pharmacological profile of AC-5216 was determined by animal behavioral tests. Based on the data above, the antidepressant-like activities were produced by AC-5216 in HFD-STZ rats and these effects were antagonized by TSPO antagonist PK11195 without affecting the locomotor activity.
