Saban Should Make More Than Smart
Kirby Smart, the coach for Georgia, has a new contract that is worth $11.25 million per year. This makes him the highest paid coach in college football. Yes, this includes Nick Saban who makes around $10 million per year after his latest deal. Here’s the $11.25 million dollar question: No. This is the short answer though. We’re going to break it down. To start, the most obvious reason is that Saban has had many more years of successful coaching, almost four times as many years as Smart.
Nagurski Trophy Winner Will Be

The Portland Metro Chamber, along with a coalition of business and industry partners, strongly opposes Senate Bill 426A. While the bill claims to address wage theft in the construction industry, its approach shifts financial liability onto property owners and upper-tier contractors, regardless of their knowledge or involvement. This misguided legislation threatens to destabilize Oregon’s construction industry, increase risk for small businesses, and discourage inclusive hiring practices.

Chamber Advocates for Preserving Business Tax Deductions
The Portland Metro Chamber has joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and organizations across the country in urging Congress to preserve the state and local business tax (B-SALT) deduction as lawmakers consider making the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent. Alabama Hires Ken Whisenhunt
Ken Whisenhunt is another name added to Nick Saban’s list of big-name hires, as a special assistant. ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg noticed a change in the Crimson Tide staff directory on Wednesday. Whisenhunt was with the Los Angeles Charges from 2016-19 as an offensive coordinator. More recently, he was an offensive analyst at Penn State. The start of his career was at Vanderbilt in 1995 as an assistant coach, but he is more well known for his involvement in the NFL.
Oklahoma And Texas To Join SEC For $100M.
Oklahoma and Texas have anxiously awaited the move to the SEC since 2021. As of today, it is officially scheduled to happen in summer of 2024. Brett Yormark, Big 12 Commissioner, says: “As I have consistently stated, the Conference would only agree to an early withdrawal if it was in our best interest for Oklahoma and Texas to depart prior to June 30, 2025.
$3 Million In NIL Money Made By Alabama Players
$3 million in NIL money was made by Alabama players, according to Nick Saban on the second day of SEC Media Days. That’s right. $3 million in NIL money. While this is obviously great for the players themselves, there have been many questions asked regarding how this earning potential could influence the recruiting process. Saban speaks on this: “Name, Image, and Likeness is a great thing for players.
Starting Quarterback for App State Named
Appalachian State football head coach Shawn Clark announced that red-shirt freshman Ryan Burger will be the starting quarterback against FCS Gardner-Webb at home this weekend. Burger and junior Joey Aguilar were the candidates up for the starting signal-caller spot. Aguilar is a junior college transfer who threw for nearly 3,000 yards in two college seasons, and more than than 5,000 yards in high school.
Appalachian State Football Preview: Climbing Mountains in 2023
Appalachian State football provided a pretty interesting 2022 season. Its 6-6 record and no bowl game appearance weren't pleasing to fans, but the Mountaineers did have some head-turning games. Remember standing in front of the television with a gaping mouth as App State beat the SEC's Texas A&M? And ESPN Gameday in Boone, N.C.? There was also the win against Troy. If the Mountaineers can pull out some wins like these, but add more to it, they could have a strong 2023 season.
Old Dominion Football Preview: Key Monarchs Flying Away
In 2022, Old Dominion football went in an opposite direction from 2021. Fans hoped to see Old Dominion carry the end-of-season momentum over to 2022, but with the Sun Belt changes, it just didn't happen. The Monarchs also lost some key players, such as WR Ali Jennings and QB Hayden Wolff. OLD DOMINION FOOTBALL 2023 PREVIEW THE CONF.: SBC Sun Belt Conference 2022 RECORD: 3-9 overall, 2-6 Sun Belt CONF.
UMass Football Preview: Minutemen Aiming for Improvements
UMass could really use some good luck, or at least a Snickers. It's just not been going well. Since their move to the FBS in 2012, UMass has not had any season that was remotely close to being successful. However, UMass Coach Don Brown is back for his second consecutive season with a positive attitude. There were some improvements last year that UMass hopes to bounce off of this season. UMass has been decent before and it can be again, but it absolutely isn't going to be in 2023.
Miami Dolphins: Greatest Draft Class of the Last 20 Years
Picking the Miami Dolphins’ greatest draft class of the last 20 years wasn’t that difficult, in theory. However, my choice of the 2021 draft being so recent made me hesitant. I was a little worried that it might be judged for being too “fresh.” In the end, I decided that there really was no way around it. The 2021 draft rocketed the Dolphins into the playoffs in 2023, enabling them to have the most successful season since 2016.
Recognized As Most NFL-Ready Prospect
Twitter was raving about Houston’s wide receiver Jontre Kirklin after his performance on Sunday. The Houston Roughnecks went against the San Antonia Brahmas, securing another XFL victory for Houston (22-13). Kirklin is responsible for a large part of that success, as he made some seriously good catches.
XFL Week 2's Controversial Moments
Some were excited to watch the XFL Week 2 games, only to be disappointed in the condition of the field. It seems as though the momentum from last week has been taken a different direction, as everyone is talking about it. During the Vegas Vipers and DC Defenders matchup, viewers were not shy about taking their opinions of the field to Twitter. The general consensus is that the Cashman Field in Las Vegas just didn’t cut it.
USFL Draft: Pittsburgh Maulers 2023 Draft Picks
The 2023 USFL Draft was really gracious to the Pittsburgh Maulers. Quite a few of their picks suggest that they will be a solid force in 2023. Some picks have more information about them out there than others, but as the USFL 2023 season progresses, I’m sure I can dig a little deeper into these Pittsburgh Maulers draft picks. Scott began his college football career in 2016 at LSU.
XFL Teams Ranked By Followers 2023
Here is a list of all eight XFL teams ranked by the number of followers. It is apparent that Instagram carries the XFL following on social media.
Reactions To Tyreek Hill & More
The 2023 XFL season just started and with that came a lot of excitement. Several fans, including NFL players and coaches, shared their excitement via Twitter. Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins wide receiver, goes to Twitter to say the XFL is “lit.” Dontavious Jackson, previous linebacker for the Florida State Seminoles (2016-20), thought the same.
Former Alabama Players Join XFL's Seattle Sea Dragons Team.
The XFL is a new interest of mine, and since the season began today, I thought I would highlight a few players from the Seattle Sea Dragons. I didn’t know where to begin when choosing what teams to favor, but since there were two players from Alabama on the Seattle Sea Dragons roster, I figured I would start there. Chris Owens was with the Tide for six seasons and played every position along the offensive line. He made his career start with Alabama against Duke in 2019.
Eagles Fans' Wild Antics, Including Car Flip
Eagles fans are wild. They just are. The madness began before the Super Bowl LVII could even begin on Sunday. Eagles fans flipped a car in Philly thirty minutes before kickoff. #Eagles fans are already going crazy in Philly, flipping cars. We're 30-minutes away from kickoff..pic.twitter.com/oNAPHbvJ9V — Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) February 12, 2023 Considering their loss to the Chiefs Sunday night, the car flipping seems a little extra. Almost as extra as this guy smashing his television.
Super Bowl Snacks Revealed For 2023
SUPER BOWL SNACKS SPOILER: I’m not making crockpot weenies. No offense to those though because they really are so good. However, I know someone else will make those. Hopefully I’m not acting on a false assumption. Surely the universe wouldn’t put me in charge of such an important task. I’m honestly just shocked that I’m not making a charcuterie board. Here are the Super Bowl snacks that me and one of my BFFs will be making, even though no one asked. BLT pasta salad I follow this recipe pretty closely.
Tua Tagovailoa Interview On Mike McDaniel Murder Charge
This Tua Tagovailoa interview is even more stupid than this title. However, it pairs perfectly with the tasteless questions that Tua Tagovailoa was asked on the “Dan Le Batard Show” on Friday. It can be speculated that this caused him to cancel his remaining interviews for the day. Thanks a lot, you guys.
Devonta Smith: Disconnecting To Focus
Hopefully no one needs to get a hold of DeVonta Smith before the Super Bowl. The Eagles wide receiver is staying under the radar until the time comes to show out on the field. Smith is trying to stay clear of any distractions surrounding the Super Bowl and is boycotting his phone, social media, and television. Smith told Bo Wulf of The Athletic that he was in “complete darkness.” He’s had his fair share of light, setting a single-season franchise record for a receiver with 95 catches.
REPORT: Josh Jacobs Is Keeping His Options Open In 2023
Josh Jacobs tells Tashan Reed that he would feel like a “hero turned villain” when asked about the Raiders exercising the option to keep him off the market. While Jacobs isn’t obsessing over his contract negotiations, he doesn’t want the franchise tag. This was made obvious on Saturday at Allegiant Stadium. Jacobs led the NFL in rushing with 1,653 yards last season. This career season landed him a spot in the Pro Bowl games, of which he really showed out in the dodgeball game on Thursday.
The Cowboys Are Dumb?
There’s a new theory going around: The Cowboys are dumb. They shocked everyone in Sunday’s 19-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Jimmy Johnson, ex-Dallas coach, called it a “creatively dumb play design.” All five linemen were lined out wide while Ezekiel Elliott left to play center. Malik Davis stood next to Prescott in the backfield. Dumb….. https://t.co/J6GELNiEIm — Jimmy Johnson (@JimmyJohnson) January 23, 2023 Obviously, the outcome was less than desirable for Dallas fans.
