Beef Bourguignon II
Beef Bourguignon II Hearty, tender beef in a sumptuous red wine sauce. This is an easy and tasty dish. Definitely not the normal casserole. Submitted by Teri Smith Updated on March 18, 2026

A rebuttal to Maine Judicial's update on the courthouse project
On June 12, the Maine Judicial Branch (MJB) released an update on the Hancock Judicial Center. Although we welcome any update from the MJB, we disagree with much in this update. Below is the Surry Road Neighborhood Preservation Association’s (SRNPA) rebuttal. 1. Significant ledge and wetlands: The MJB made this claim at the April 30 meeting. We were told by Chief Justice Valerie Stanfill that these reports and surveys would be made available to us. Nearly three months later we have not received them.

Letter: Where are the conservative voices?
I have enjoyed the recent back and forth on the letter to the editor pages starting with Fuller Sheldon’s “ Five reasons I won’t subscribing to The Forum ” on December 9th along with Alan Davis’s response on December 13th. While it is easy to get caught up in name calling and disagreements over issues, I think we are missing the main point in the conversation which is that a major portion of our population feels that their viewpoints are being tossed aside.
Letter: Now that's North Dakota nice
By J. Fay Eris-Gall January 05, 2022 03:03 PM To the wonderful person that got me unstuck in the 800 block of Ninth Street South, thank you very much. Because of your act of kindness, I was still on time for my job interview, and got the job. This means the world to my family. Thank you again for starting 2022 on a positive note! J. Fay Eris-Gall lives in Fargo. This letter does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The Forum's editorial board nor Forum ownership.
Letter: Recent AARP hit piece one of many lodged by Big Pharma
The op-ed, “AARP has a conflict of interest when it comes to drug pricing legislation,” reads like all the other opinions that Big Pharma and its enablers recycle. If anyone has a conflict, it is astroturf groups like Patients Rising, claiming to speak for patients but cozying up to Big Pharma. For decades, millions of seniors across our country have been forced to pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.
Letter: Much ado about nothing on Jan. 6
On January 6th, 2021, one year ago this Thursday, nothing significant happened. Does it sound like I’m being very dismissive of the Capitol riot? It should, because I am. It’s commonly described as an “insurrection” or a “coup d’etat;” President Joe Biden called it “the worst attack on our democracy since the civil war.” Multiple media pundits even called it worse than 9/11. All of this is a crock of nonsense that defies reality. Protestors disrupted a vote; that’s what happened.
Letter: How Fargo of you?
Thursday evening, Dec. 30, my sister was locked out of her workplace near the Holiday Gas Station on 25th Street and 30th Avenue South. With only a short-sleeved shirt and pants on, she, my less than five feet tall sister, ran there in the below zero temperatures and terrible wind chill before 8 p.m. They were just locking the door. She banged on the door, yelling that she needed help and to use the phone because she had been locked out.
Letter: A 'slow-motion insurrection' is threatening democracy
Recently an Associated Press article titled “Slow-Motion Insurrection: How GOP Seizes Election Power” was published in many newspapers across the country.
Letter: I thought federal dollars were for the people adversely affected by COVID
Letters While the governor, who won’t take any of my three phone calls, calls out to people trying to figure out how he, and big business can spend the people’s money, I have an unusual idea. Give it to the people of North Dakota who are still underwater. Written By: Teri Hall Smith | 4:00 pm, Nov. 3, 2021 × I may be wrong about this, but isn’t this the money from the federal government that is supposed to be for the people of North Dakota?
Op-ed: Improving access to naloxone from the moment an opioid is prescribed
I have been a part of the recovery community for over two decades, which means 20 years of witnessing the tragic effects of crises ranging from crack cocaine to opioids. Never have I seen more tragedy, though, than during the current opioid epidemic. Within the past year alone, I can personally recall five fatal overdoses.
Letter: These are the people who are supposed to represent us?
Letters As Republicans, you sure would not want the women of North Dakota to think they are equal or supported in any way by the legislature. Written By: Dennis and Teri Hall Smith | 8:30 am, Mar. 25, 2021 × I have recently read about the powerful issues facing our North Dakota Congress. Issues so important that they are discussed and sometimes legislation is actually passed. Issues like the Nickel Trophy and whether or not it should be revived.
FanDuel, Genius Sports Sign Two-Year Marketing Partnership
FanDuel is partnering with Genius Sports’ marketing division on a two-year partnership to run personalized, targeted ads in states where the company operates. At the heart of the deal is customer acquisition. As more U.S. states legalize sports betting, FanDuel and its competitors are in a land grab for users. Many operators are willing to pay around $300 per customer acquired, and some as high as $700.
Islanders Are Bullish on Season Ticket Sales in New UBS Arena
During the era of the coronavirus, only three National Hockey League teams are currently allowing a few thousand fans to attend each game. For the New York Islanders, there isn’t a soul in the stands at the Nassau Coliseum, and there won’t be any during the club’s final season in the grand old building.
Warriors Owner Says Team is Losing 70% of its Revenue to COVID-19
The Golden State Warriors are losing 70% of their expected revenue without live fans, according to billionaire co-owner Joe Lacob. Lacob mentioned the loss while speaking at a SporticoLive event on Thursday. NBA commissioner Adam Silver has previously said that league-wide, about 40% of revenue comes from having fans at games. The Warriors are more affected than others because the team doesn’t have a large local media contract while also facing expenses related to their new $1.6 billion arena.
With Its Unmatched Reach, the Super Bowl Defies All Ratings Trends
At the risk of indulging in the unpardonable sin of sports-media blasphemy, here’s something to bear in mind as America’s great secular holiday approaches: The Super Bowl TV ratings don’t matter. While the postgame ritual of counting the house has been a part of the national conversation going back to the days when Up with People lent their signature brand of Thorazine-blunted cheer to the halftime show, the size of the TV audience is essentially just a marketing tool.
NFL Ratings: Brady-Rodgers NFC Championship Scores a Win for Fox
The first postseason showdown between Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers paid off for Fox and its advertisers, as Sunday’s broadcast delivered the largest audience for an NFC Championship game in four years. According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, Tampa’s 31-26 road win averaged 44.8 million viewers and a 23.0 rating on Fox, giving the conference its biggest TV turnout since the Falcons routed the Packers in front of 46.3 million viewers and a 25.0 rating in 2017.

The city of Jasper teamed up with the University of Arkansas Center for Communication Research to support effort to bring more high-speed internet service to the city.
Letter: Let's leave it to the professional journalists
Call them bloggers, hacks or just people who send in their opinions. Both Mike Hulett and Ross Nelson went on to bully, or should I say defend themselves, against the carefully-researched column of Jim Shaw. While Shaw had an excellent column also on Saturday's opinion page about a professional neurosurgeon’s point of view, the two of them went on to prove what Shaw had said about them in the first place.

Letter: I'm as disappointed in our local politicians as I am in Trump
Letters Written By: Teri Smith | Nov 26th 2019 - 8am. Colleen Whalen was so right when she asserted that people should not expect criminal behavior from any president what-so-ever. That includes if Hillary Clinton had been elected and committed the same crimes while in office. RELATED Letter: Ask yourself if you would be OK with Clinton doing the things Trump has done The answer loud and clear: absolutely not.
