Fatal Western Iowa Traffic Crash

(Harrison County, IA) -- A woman dies from injuries suffered in a two- vehicle crash in Harrison County. The Iowa State Patrol says early Monday evening, a Toyota RAV 4 driven by 30-year- old Merari Eduviges Perez of Manilla, Iowa was eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 near 260th Street when it crossed the center line and collided with a westbound GM Sierra driven by 57-year -old Daryl Jay Fichter of Missouri Valley. Investigators say Merari Perez died from her injuries.

A Douglas County, Nebraska District Court Judge sentences Eswin Mejia to 20 to 22 years for motor vehicle homicide and flight to avoid arrest. The crash took the life of 21-year -old Sarah Root of Council Bluffs.

November Fatal Council Bluffs Crash Arrest Original

(Council Bluffs, IA) -- After receiving toxicology reports, Council Bluffs Police say they have arrested a Bluffs man in connection with a fatal, vehicle-pedestrian collision early last month. Investigators say 72-year- old Dennis Stark is booked on suspicion of Homicide by Vehicle While Driving Intoxicated. He is being held without bond. Police say the report shows Stark was at a .127 blood alcohol content and had marijuana in his system during the crash.
