It is spooky how similar the stats are between the Isles' two starting goalies
BarDown Staff Thomas Greiss, Robin Lehner , (Photo by Dave Reginek/NHLI via Getty Images) Sometimes you hear of NHL teams splitting time between goalies in a tandem fashion. Essentially this allows teams to ride the hot hand, similarly to how MLB teams sometimes utilize a “closer by committee” system. Even given that, it’s usually still something like a 70-30 split, or a 60-40. Not this season’s New York Islanders, however.

New York Islanders Matinee in Boston Edition
The New York Islanders are in Boston in this early 1:00pm puck drop. The goal today for the Islanders play a full 60 minutes. There aren’t many afternoon games, and ever fewer Monday afternoon games that aren’t on a holiday. But the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins found a way. The Islanders are going up against a fairly weak team at home going 10-10-0 on the season so far.
New York Islanders Decimate the Buffalo Sabres
The battle of the Eastern Conference basement dwellers ended with a convincing 5-1 victory for the New York Islanders against the Buffalo Sabres. The Buffalo Sabres are now in last place of the Eastern Conference, thanks to a one-sided 5-1 loss to your New York Islanders. New York Islanders Anders Lee and Thomas Griess Shine
The New York Islanders left Boston on Tuesday night with two points in the bank. Two points that were won on the backs of performances by their goaltender and their hottest player.
