EDISON, N.J. — Top 100 retailer Factory Direct Enterprises, which owns and operates Ashley stores in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, had the biggest single sales day in company history on Labor Day. “All aspects of the business were up on a same store basis. The Sioux Falls, S.D.-based retailer promoted it heavily and got good results from shoppers looking for a better night’s sleep. “We had a strong weekend in mattress; just mattresses across the board,” said Katelyn Conover, chief marketing officer. “We had two big pieces we were pushing, a $799 through Mattress1st, a key price point that performed well.
