Tissue factor is a critical regulator of radiation therapy-induced glioblastoma remodeling
Highlights • Irradiated SA-βGal+ GBM cells clonally expand and promote post-RT tumor regrowth • RT-induced F3 signaling enhances the enriched features of senescence and stemness • F3 is a key driver for oncogenic ECM and TME remodeling in GBM radio-resistance • ΔFVII is a potent anti-GBM agent that mitigates F3-mediated oncogenic signaling Summary Radiation therapy (RT) provides therapeutic benefits for patients with glioblastoma (GBM), but inevitably induces poorly understood global changes...

In a While, Crocodile
The world’s crocodilians have always been a source of fascination and fear. Hic Sunt Dracones appeared with frequency on the unexplored places on ancient maps: Here Be Dragons. Even with almost every part of the earth now charted, there still be dragons. We call them alligators and crocodiles. The crocodilians of today have a variety of other names, too, such as caiman, gharial, and mugger. They all descend from crocodylomorpha, evolving more than two hundred thousand millennia ago in the Triassic.
Living Waters: Baptism and Redemption in “The Mandalorian”
Every three years on the Third Sunday of Lent (and every year at Masses where First Scrutiny of RCIA candidates is held), the deacon or priest proclaims the story of the Woman at the Well from the Gospel according to St. John.
The Catholic faith of Abraham Van Helsing, vampire hunter
When one is asked to think of comic book characters, the name Abraham Van Helsing probably does not immediately spring to mind. However, Van Helsing is a comic book character. In the 1970s, Marvel Comics published a series called The Tomb of Dracula. The series focused on Abraham’s granddaughter Rachel Van Helsing, but Abraham also made appearances.
Under Canvas: A True African Safari
By Thomas McIntyre There are places where it isn’t a “safari” without cell service—or, better, Wi-Fi. Direct-satellite television, plunge pools, under-floor heating, gourmet dining, gymnasiums, and conference centers can all be found in one lodge or another in Africa. And, if the mood strikes, you can also hunt big game. That’s far from the rule of safari in Africa, but it is trending. And there’s nothing wrong in hunting in a certain style, if you wish.
Novel Pathway Critical to Glioma Stem Cells Identified as Therapeutic Target in Glioblastoma
An international research team has identified a novel signaling loop that shows potential as a therapeutic target in patients with glioblastoma. The previously undefined cellular pathway has been found to contribute to the spread and proliferation of glioma stem cells. Cleveland Clinic is a non-profit academic medical center. How Judas is the Gollum of the Gospels
3 Minute Read Unlike his friend, contemporary and fellow Inkling C.S. Lewis, Tolkien did not approve of nor employ direct allegory. In the Chronicles of Narnia, (contrary to what Liam Neeson would want you to be believe) Aslan IS Jesus. Lewis had the idea that if Jesus were to become incarnate, as He did on earth, in a world mostly populated by talking animals, He would do as a lion.

What’s The Worst Color Ever Offered On A Car?
A beautiful car should be able to rock any color. But there are some offenders out there that will make almost anything homely.Color influences all of our purchase decisions. If your sushi is a nuclear green, you're probably going to avoid eating it. Generally people don't wear hot pink dress shirts to the first day of work. And hopefully you're not one to ruin a Lamborghini by covering it in chrome. Here at Jalopnik, we have a soft spot for Volvos (even if they sometimes frustrate us).
The soluble protease ADAMDEC1 released from activated platelets hydrolyzes platelet membrane pro-epidermal growth factor (EGF) to active high-molecular-weight EGF
Platelets are the sole source of EGF in circulation, yet how EGF is stored or released from stimulated cells is undefined. In fact, we found platelets did not store EGF, synthesized as a single 6-kDa domain in pro-EGF, but rather expressed intact pro-EGF precursor on granular and plasma membranes. Activated platelets released high-molecular-weight (HMW)-EGF, produced by a single cleavage between the EGF and the transmembrane domains of pro-EGF.
Hunting Without Apology - Petersen's Hunting
A magnificent male specimen of charismatic megafauna is shot and killed and the public erupts in howls of execration. “Widespread expressions of outrage,” to borrow from Tovar Cerulli’s words from last month, ensue. Protests mount. Pickets march upon the killer’s place of work. Social media flares into a firestorm. The pioneering primatologist, conservationist, and “UN Messenger of Peace” Dr. Jane Goodall is heard from.
On Being a Turkey – Garden & Gun
Sporting Deep in the Mississippi woods, a hunter reflects on the joys — and pain — of chasing gobblers By Thomas McIntyre April/May 2016 illustration: Illustrations by Stan Fellows Tracing through tall straight trees, the old logging road shows no brighter than a phosphorescent afterimage
racing across a retina, all that is clearly visible being the toe caps of knee boots striding in the scarlet corona of a headlamp.
