What was your first job as a journalist?
While in college, I made my first dollar as a journalist covering zoning board meetings in Pittsfield Township, south of Ann Arbor, Mich.

Via email, with a very short description of the topic and a link for additional information.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Mac and iPhone and Ulysses and Wordpress.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes. I took photographs of the football games and I wrote occasional "op ed" type pieces.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Write a lot.
When's the best time to pitch you?
9-5, EST.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Hard to say. Probably the worst were from authors of books on political conspiracy theories.

Hockey game.
