Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island host second annual Big Breakfast PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island hosted its second annual Big Breakfast on Oct. 23. PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Big Brothers Big Sisters is changing the future of young Rhode Islanders, one volunteer at a time. BBBS volunteer Mike Kendra and his little brother Kayden were paired together two years ago, and since then, have had dozens of opportunities to explore Southern New England. “Kayyden likes sports. We do a lot of different sports things, and Big Brothers, they arrange a lot of different events,” Kendra said.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The shutdown of the federal government could impact services for veterans across Rhode Island, according to Rucking for Roofs, a local nonprofit. ABC6 spoke with Matt Vianna, who runs Rucking for Roofs, a nonprofit in East Providence that helps homeless veterans in Rhode Island. He said nothing has been impacted yet, but that could change.
