A Letter To You About Choice: The Super Connected Petition
Dear Friends, After much back and forth with the House of Commons, my petition has now been published — and I truly hope you’ll sign it. ‘Provide a Legal Right to Access Certain Services Without a Digital Device’ https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/725049 Like many others, I’ve spent the past few years immersed in the fight against digital dependency — particularly its grip on children.
How Big Tech’s Fantasy of Human Upgrade Shaped Tim Arnold’s Album Cover for Super Connected™
To celebrate the two-year anniversary of Super Connected, I thought I would share this unpublished article and interview that I recently came across, originally written by Aurelio Vasquez for Sonika Magazine. The interview took place just before the album’s release and explores the origins of the album cover, which has since become a signature of the project and our tour this year.
One Year Without a Smartphone: Limitation is the new Liberation.
Wow. One year without a smartphone. The Decision to Go Smartphone-Free. For Good What was it like? Well, it wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t so difficult that I’m going to go back to a smartphone. I’m not. Regular readers will know I’ve been working towards this ever since I began writing the songs for Super Connected. Finally, I made it. So the iPhone is staying in the cupboard.
Beatles to Beatniks: How I Ended Up Singing Waterloo Sunset with Allen Ginsberg
Discover more from Truth and Their Translations Musings, journals and writings from Brit polymath Tim Arnold The Beatles publicist Derek Taylor always said the band got their name from the Marlon Brando film ‘The Wild Ones’. But if you discover The Beatles when you’re 13 and you’re growing up in a semi-nudist Bohemian haven of Sapphic women in the mountains of Andalusia, then your radical-feminist gay mother is going to tell you that The Beatles got their name from The Beat Generation.

Getting My Mojo Back
Tales Of The Unexpected Spectrum: Part Three In November 1993 I was 18. I dived into a newsagent in Soho to get a new music magazine that I knew nothing about, but was seduced by the photograph on the cover; my two self-elected father figures at that particular time in my life: John Lennon and Bob Dylan. The magazine was Mojo. It was the next best thing to hearing my mother's stories of her recording with Jimmy Page in the 60's, or dancing at The Scene Club with The Beatles.
Making Music Physical with Press On Vinyl
Tales Of The Unexpected Spectrum: Part Two I love vinyl. It was my way into music when my elder brother put a pair of massive headphones over my five-year-old head in 1980. The needle dropped on a song that made me grin when the words 'Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow' popped into my head. From 2005 when I set up a record label, I learnt how to make CDs with all the data, and I'm used to uploading an album to digital stores. But making a vinyl album is new to me.
Acts Of Artistic Autistry
Tales Of The Unexpected Spectrum: Part One This shouldn't make any difference to anyone who already knows me. For better or worse, I'm the same Tim I always have been. But for me, it makes the kind of difference that I've been searching for all my life - to finally know, that I am actually... autistic. It's good to know the reasons why we excel at some things and fail at others. Especially when you've gone through your entire life not knowing there were, in fact, reasons for the way you behaved.
The Great Explorer
Moonage Daydream's ray gun fires a rush of optimism to the heart Whilst there were no new biographical facts or information about his life that I hadn't already greedily digested about Bowie over the years, Brett Morgen's Moonage Daydream made me feel more optimism about life than I've come to expect from watching any film, ever before.
Don’t Look Up: When Art Speaks Truth To Power On A Screen
Photo: Netflix The Media and The Division that Distracts Don’t Look Up is a masterclass in how media and social media hold the cards of division. Division that distracts from the main event. I’ve endured a lifetime of insults as a result of multi-minority marks in myheritage, but, I have never taken offence at any of it. Because I wasn’t being triggered and driven by data on a daily basis that made me feel persecuted.

Action Alert: Plant More Trees in Cities
Trees are vital to the well-being of people who live in cities. Trees help purify the air they breathe and water they drink. They also cool homes, which reduces heat-related illnesses and energy use. And they capture and store carbon, which helps mitigate climate change. But in many cities, particularly the low-income neighborhoods, trees are sparse. People living there don’t benefit from the power of trees.
Statement of American Forests on the Trillion Trees Act
The introduction of the Trillion Trees Act from Representative Bruce Westerman (R-AR) and nine additional Republican co-sponsors adds new energy from the GOP to the growing bipartisan movement to leverage America’s forests for slowing climate change. While forests alone cannot solve climate change, they can play a very important role alongside actions like reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector.

Lindsay Kemp RIP - an appreciation of a cultural icon - Louder Than War
n the hours following the news that Lindsay had died, I have never felt more loneliness in my life. It is hard to understand how only two months ago we performed on stage to a crowd with all the abandon of children playing to parents in a playground, without a single thought that it might not last forever. He was a true friend to so many of us, and I suspect like me, nobody else ever acknowledged his age. Like Lindsay, I’ve never paid much attention to people’s age or gender.
Suzanne Vega Beautiful Days Aug 2018 Live Review - Louder Than War
I first met Suzanne Vega in 2015 whilst I was on jamming after-show duties in a pub behind the mainstage at The Isle of Wight Festival. It came at the request of the festival’s promoter, the ever-charismatic John Giddings. “Tim, come and play a song for Suzanne and Gerry”. This, of course I did, launching into an acoustic rendition of my single ‘The King of Soho’. It was a surreal moment in my journey through music.
The association between outpatient follow-up visits and all-cause non-elective 30-day readmissions: A retrospective observational cohort study
Follow-up visits are associated with a reduction in readmission risk. The timing of follow-up visits can be important: beyond two days, the earlier, the better. The effect of follow-up visits is more significant for patients with a high but not extremely high risk of readmission. To conduct this retrospective observational study, we extracted data for 55,378 adult inpatients from Advocate Health Care, a large, multi-hospital system serving a diverse population in a major metropolitan area.
Remember larger goal of education
We’ve all heard, at some point in our lives, that learning is fundamental and that everyone should go to school and get a diploma. We sometimes forget that school is meant to prepare our youth for success, whether they are headed into college or straight into a career.Education is not only vital to enrich and mold young minds, but essential to the economic vitality of our state.
Seasons of Love, by Dave Bradley
Seasons of Love Raking through my memories as the leaves begin to fall The cold of winter's coming, there's no hope for spring at all The plans I made for summer come tumbling down to earth But see salvation rising through the light of just one birth Oh Lord, You find us sinful, lost, and proud But with your Word, You guide us We sing Your praise with voices loud The plan You made forever is only now revealed At this time of year, You come to us and all our wounds are healed Making safe our...

1,000s of Jobs/Month Can Make You Sick
Healthcare staffing is not for the faint of heart. The midsize and large healthcare staffing firms we support at Fyre are seeing 250 to more than 1,000 job orders per day and have even seen as high as 35,000 in one month. Many staffing firms in other verticals see in one month what healthcare staffing firms see in a week. And then there’s the email. Several of our clients are receiving more than 500 emails per day from their VMS clients.
Recess Appointments
Recess appointments of federal judges, including Supreme Court Justices, have historical and legal precedent, but are not without controversy, says Judge Diana Gribbon Motz '68. Motz, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, delivered the Ola B. Smith Lecture in Caplin Pavilion in March. Articles II and III of the Constitution are at the root of constitutional questions about recess appointments, Motz said.
Changing Your ATS Won't Fix A Broken Recruiting Process.
Sometimes you just need a scapegoat. For the staffing industry, the applicant tracking system (ATS) seems to be taking on that role as recruiting challenges grow and results disappoint. Why aren’t we beating our competition to the talent? It must be the ATS. Why aren’t our candidates being selected? It must be the ATS. Why aren’t candidates saying yes to the roles we offer? It has to be the ATS. Doesn’t it?
The Silent Spring (ft. Emmazen), by Dave Bradley
The Silent Spring They tell us history is a lesson to learn Too many times we ignore it They say the danger is a stranger to burn Through the seasons they implore it It doesn't matter how near or how far The border lands we deplore them They feed us lies that just won't settle the score Fail to see that we abhor them Across the desert a healing wind blows Now the promise of a silent spring Though lines were drawn and the borders were closed Above the cloud the eagle spreads her wings Above...
