Za’atari refugee camp - city of lost children
Za’atari refugee camp in northern Jordan is the temporary home for around 80,000 refugees, forced to flee the ongoing violence in Syria. Save the Children Australia’s head of campaigns, Tim Norton, shares what it was like to spend a day exploring the camp – now a vast city with a displaced population. The Za’atari refugee camp is huge. The scale hit me as I drove through the main streets, where I saw stocked shops, soccer grounds and teenagers having BMX bike races over jumps.
Gardner Police Department - Tidslinje
The Gardner Police Department hosted a regional Canine Unit training event at the Gardner Aquatic Center and on the Johnson County Fair Grounds on Wednesday night. Although weekly training exercises are part of a continuing regimen that most police canine units in Johnson County go through to maintain their special skillset, this was the first time that some of the canine units had the opportunity to work on water bite training.

After directly engaging thousands of citizens through community meetings, work groups, surveys and social media, the South Central Kansas Prosperity Plan is nearing completion. These efforts produced a regional plan with an array of tools and information to help ensure this region is a prosperous place where people can live, work, play and learn. It was an honor and privilege for us to have served in a leadership role for this project.
