In its first-ever season of girls flag football, the Memorial Mustangs advanced to the title game of the inaugural Girls Flag Football Texas State Championship. At the state tournament on the campus of the University of North Texas, Memorial defeated Round Rock High School and then Eastwood High School to win the Houston Texans division, before falling to Dallas Cowboys division winner East Rockwell in the state title game.

With his game-winning home run in the final at-bat of the third and deciding game of the state semifinals versus Dripping Springs, Memorial Mustangs senior Isaac Richardson propelled Memorial to the UIL state baseball finals for the first time in school history. “It was one of the greatest moments of my entire life,” said Richardson. “As I turned first base after the homer, I looked over at my teammates and they were going crazy.

With its victory over defending state finalist Alief Elsik in the area round of the UIL boys soccer playoffs, the Bellaire Cardinals advanced to the third round of the postseason playoffs for the first time in 28 years. “It just means a lot to be able to guide these kids who’ve worked so hard all year. I really couldn’t be any happier and prouder of our guys,” said Bellaire head coach Daniel Ramirez.
