What is a caregiver? It seems like a simple question: “one who gives care.” However, when we ask the question, “Who is the caregiver?” everything changes. Marketing companies create wonderful content for pharmaceutical companies, showing a husband (caregiver) and wife sitting in the park enjoying ice cream. Whether it’s a video, print, or online, everything looks beautiful, and everyone is happy. Unfortunately, there is a large audience for whom there is no dedicated caregiver or companion.

Old Friends Share Lives With Invisible, Rare Diseases

I was an avid tennis player before I was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis (MG) at 58 years old. I played in several leagues and even went on to the USTA National Championships several times. I met so many wonderful people while playing—some who turned into lifelong friends. Over the years, I must have played with or against over 1000 people.
