What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

This is a tough field to break into. Outwork everyone you meet. It's the only way to guarantee any least bit of success.

When's the best time to pitch you?

I like to have everything lined up at the beginning of the week but enjoy hearing from potential clients whenever.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Probably working out. I enjoy lifting weights and while I don't enjoy it, I also do plenty of running to push myself.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

I've had a lot of people say, "so you get paid to watch sports." People think it's an easy job that requires no preparation. Not quite...
