DOYLESTOWN — Senior quarterback Josh George threw three touchdown passes, two of them to senior tight end Liam Laphen, in Central Bucks West’s season-opening 36-7 win over Easton on Friday night at War Memorial Field. Easton, which went 14-1 and won the District 11 Class 6A championship last fall before losing to eventual state champ La Salle in the state quarterfinals, only returns three starters from its 2025 squad.

BENSALEM — Tony Dragani was an assistant on head coach Dan McShane’s staff when sons Pete, Chris and Mike played football at Bensalem High School in the 2000s. After a decade at Conwell-Egan with Jack Techtmann as defensive coordinator and spending last season at Neshaminy, Dragani returned to Bensalem with new head coach Mitch Cohen this year. Now he gets to work with grandson Michael, an Owls sophomore receiver and Mike’s son. “To coach my grandson is amazing,” Dragani said. “It’s a blessing.

With Plymouth Whitemarsh, which won the last five Suburban One League American Conference football championships, having moved to the Continental, the conference will have a champion other than PW for the first time since 2020. Among the contenders are Wissahickon (4-1 SOL American last year) and Upper Moreland (3-2 SOL). Harry S. Truman has switched from the Continental to the American, with Hatboro-Horsham, William Tennent and Springfield-Montco rounding out the conference.
