Generation of two-color ultrashort pulses in mixed solid thin plates

We experimentally demonstrate a compact two-plate continuum system capable of simultaneous generation of two-color ultrashort pulses centered at 400 nm and 800 nm. By integrating thin plates mixed by beta barium borate (BBO) and a fused silica (FS) plate, this system can achieve second harmonic generation (SHG) and spectral broadening of both the fundamental (800 nm) and second harmonic pulses (400 nm).

Efficient single-cycle mid-infrared femtosecond laser pulse generation by spectrally temporally cascaded optical parametric amplification with pump energy recycling

We proposed spectrally temporally cascaded optical parametric amplification (STOPA) using pump energy recycling to simultaneously increase spectral bandwidth and conversion efficiency in optical parametric amplification (OPA). Using BiB3O6 and KTiOAsO4 nonlinear crystals, near-single-cycle mid-infrared (MIR) pulses with maximum energy conversion efficiencies exceeding 25% were obtained in simulations.

Heavy metal contamination presents serious threats to living organisms. Functional genes related to cadmium (Cd) hypertolerance or hyperaccumulation must be explored to enhance phytoremediation. Sedum alfredii Hance is a Zn/Cd cohyperaccumulator exhibiting abundant genes associated with Cd hypertolerance. Here, we developed a method for screening genes related to Cd tolerance by expressing a cDNA-library for S. alfredii Hance.
