Annertech developer Tony Barker swapped the Northumberland rain for the London drizzle to attend the inaugural LocalGov Drupal Dev Days. Held at Space4 in Finsbury Park, the event brought together the ‘roomies’ (those in the building) and the ‘zoomies’ (those joining remotely) for two days of deep-dive learning and collaborative coding. Here is Tony’s account of the event.

As both local government structure and available technologies dramatically shift the requirements of councils for their websites, a quiet revolution has already been taking place. LocalGov Drupal (LGD), an open-source solution built collaboratively by councils for councils, is rapidly emerging as the preferred choice. LGD, now adopted by 58 councils at the time of writing and counting, is uniquely placed to meet these changing requirements.

In July, I had the pleasure of joining a fantastic crowd of digital thinkers, makers and doers at this year’s LocalGov Drupal Camp in London. Held at the Abbey Community Centre in Westminster, the event brought together a diverse mix of people from councils and suppliers across the UK – the mix of disciplines and roles was highlighted in a fun exercise right at the start of the day – all united by a shared ambition: to build better digital services for the public.
