Marion Local enters the 2026 season motivated after last year's Division VII regional final loss to St. Henry ended the Flyers' run of four consecutive state championships and a 76-game winning streak. Head coach Tim Goodwin begins his 28th season with a roster featuring just four returning starters on each side of the ball. Among them is second-year quarterback Brennen Hess, who will help lead a team looking to reload after another deep postseason run.

ST. HENRY (WLIO) ... The defending Division VII state champion St. Henry Redskins enter the 2026 season with a new division, new leaders and the same championship expectations. St. Henry finished 14-1 last season and placed second in the Midwest Athletic Conference. The Redskins' only conference loss came to Marion Local before they avenged it in the Division VII regional final, ending the Flyers' 76-game winning streak on their way to a state title.

NEW BREMEN (WLIO) - The New Bremen Cardinals are looking to build a new identity heading into the 2026 high school football season after finishing 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the Midwest Athletic Conference last year. The Cardinals graduated 17 seniors from the 2025 squad, but return another experienced senior class led by third-year quarterback Gavin Dicke. New Bremen opens the season at home against Wayne Trace before beginning Midwest Athletic Conference play in Week 3 against Minster.
