One of manga’s biggest publishers is under government scrutiny over its treatment of freelance creators

For most Japanese companies, having your name in the headline alongside the Japan Fair Trade Commission is kind of a nightmare situation. That’s what is happening to anime and manga distributor Kadokawa. Earlier this week, the company that publishes popular manga like The Summer Hikaru Died confirmed reports that it is being investigated for violating a Japanese law protecting freelancers from late or delayed payment. Kadokawa is one of the largest publishers of manga and light novels in Japan.

Because Kentaro Miura tragically died before he could complete the story, people often wonder what he imagined the end of Berserk would look like. It turns out he may have wanted Guts to get a happy ending in Berserk. No, really.

Doctor Who 2026 Christmas episode is cancelled as the BBC announces the future of series is open to bidding

It is bad news for Doctor Who fans around the world. After a tumultuous couple of years, it appears that the BBC is rethinking its approach to the iconic sci-fi series. With the partnership with Disney seemingly in the past, the British broadcaster is looking for new partners. In the meantime, they’re cancelling the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Episode that was scheduled to air later this year. The BBC released the statement on their website.
