Sparing Our Children From a Nuclear Iran
Commentary For approaching half a century, the world has borne witness as the Islamic Republic of Iran has, directly and through its terrorist proxies, murdered hundreds of Americans, thousands of Israelis, and tens of thousands of its own civilians, all the while maintaining a brazen and menacing march toward nuclear weapons with which to terrorize the world.
To the GOP: Abolish the 60-Vote Rule for the Soul of This Nation and the Future of Our Children
In his first term, one day after Republicans failed in the vote to repeal and replace Obamacare, as they had fervently promised voters, President Donald Trump wrote, “Republicans in the Senate will NEVER win if they don’t go to a 51 vote majority NOW. They look like fools and are just wasting time.” Trump also tweeted at the time: “If the Senate Democrats ever got the chance, they would switch to a 51 majority vote in first minute. They are laughing at R’s.
Op-Ed: Tuesday Is a Defining Moment in History
In 2016, there were a number of notable Republicans that, out of animus toward Donald Trump, SUPPORTED Hillary Clinton by endorsing her or by taking the cowardly route and announcing they would vote for neither Clinton nor Trump. If these treacherous Republicans had defeated Donald Trump, as was their egocentric goal, Hillary Clinton’s Supreme Court appointments would have undone the Constitution, and the American Republic, as we have known it, would have been lost.
We will be remembered
Throughout the course of human history, there have been those identifiable inflection points within the human family that recalibrated the trajectory of the entire world. Certainly, America’s Declaration of Independence was one of those clarion inflection points. Thomas Jefferson articulated the purpose of it all when he said, “The care of human life and its happiness, and not its destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government.” In the infamous 1973 Roe v.

Abortion Laws from Mississippi and Texas now pending before the US Supreme Court measure America's conscience and her courage to protect the most helpless among us Commentary “Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history. A Moment in the Life of Every People
In 1781, Samuel Adams, one of America's leading founding fathers, said, "Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual — or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country." It is unspeakably important to cognitively recognize that the perfect choice is never on any election ballot.
Trent Franks: Upcoming SCOTUS Decision in Espinoza Case Will Be Monumental
Twenty-five years ago, the possibility of fully validating and financially empowering parents to choose the schools their children attend was only a dream. It is my hope and belief that this dream may be about to come true. The question in the case of Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue now pending before the Supreme Court is whether the Blaine amendment in Montana’s State Constitution can invalidate its tax-credit scholarship program on the basis of religion.

The United States House of Representatives passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in September of 2016, with an overwhelming (71 percent) support (all but five Democrats voting against it). On Jan. 29, 2018, the United States Senate took a vote on a motion to allow The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which contained within it the same language as the Born-Alive bill, to proceed to the Senate floor for consideration.
Trent Franks: Republicans Must Take Ownership of The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
On Jan. 29 of this year, the United States Senate took a vote on a motion to allow The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to proceed to the Senate floor for consideration. This bill would have given those children born alive after surviving an abortion along with unborn children who have come to the very end of the fifth month of gestation (beginning of the sixth month) protection unless the pregnancy was conceived in rape or incest or endangered the life of the mother.
The Senate's 60-Vote Rule Is an Unaccountable Recipe for Bankruptcy
Does President Donald Trump really want to shut down the American government? Of course not. If current Senate rules allowed Congress to parse out and work its majority will and be held accountable to the voters on individual spending items (like border wall funding and hundreds of other good or bad things) without shutting the government down, a government shutdown would be unheard-of rather than becoming standard operating procedure.
Trent Franks Is Latest To Resign From Congress Amid Charges Of Sexual Impropriety
Arizona Republican Congressman Trent Franks is the latest Member of Congress to resign amid allegations of sexual impropriety, although the circumstances of his departure are slightly more bizarre than the other stories we’ve heard: WASHINGTON — Representative Trent Franks announced Friday that he would resign from Congress immediately after accusations emerged that he had offered $5 million to a female employee to be a surrogate mother for his children, and that she and another female...
Rep. Franks: Mueller’s reveal is a nothingburger
Evidence mounts that this investigation is compromised: Opposing view In August, I explained that special counsel Robert Mueller is in clear violation of federal code and must resign to maintain the integrity of the investigation into alleged Russian ties. Nothing in that regard has changed. What has changed is that there is mounting evidence making it even clearer that this investigation is compromised.

It must be agreed to in the chamber in which it was introduced. It is not voted on in the other chamber and does not have the force of law. Rep. Trent Franks: Robert Mueller must resign

Filibuster rules should be revisited
ANALYSIS/OPINION:As habitually practiced since only the mid-1990s, by doing absolutely nothing, with almost no accountability accruing to them (using the “no-debate stealth filibuster”), the minority in the U.S. Senate can easily — and nearly always — either stop every legislative effort from even coming to the floor, or far more insidiously, sabotage it.Unlike the 60-vote rule for debate cloture to get to a final vote (which gives the minority the power to extend and even perpetuate debate),...

The road from liberalism to tyranny
The bottom line is this: beneath a guise of free speech, America has become a fascist country, where only one view is permitted.
On my mind: Peace mind-set
Curtailing the pervasive bias against Israel at the UN is a Sisyphean ordeal. The many nations that habitually support resolutions and statements singling out Israel for excoriation don’t worry about any consequences for taking Israel out to the woodshed, since there are none. They keep at it even though their actions do nothing to advance the Israeli-Palestinian peace they claim to seek. Instead, they repeat the mantra that the current situation – the so-called status quo – is not sustainable.
Israel’s ally serving in the White House
Israel has done everything within its power to cooperate with its violent neighbors, defying eight years of criticism and condescension from the Obama administration and the antisemites at the United Nations. Indeed, president Obama did everything within his power to diminish the standing of Israel in the world. He repeatedly sent mixed and extremely dangerous messages about our relationship with Israel.
No Holds Barred: Donald Trump and the smear of antisemitism
Let’s cut through all the clutter and get straight to the main issues surrounding US President Donald Trump and allegations of antisemitism. Firstly, to suggest that President Trump dislikes Jews would have us believe that he despises his own daughter and grandchildren when precisely the opposite seems to be true. Ivanka seems to be the apple of his eye.
Congressmen: Here's our plan to replace Obamacare
Arizona congressmen: Our alternative to the Affordable Care Act focuses on three primary solutions. As one of the first orders of business in the 115th Congress, we are repealing the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, to replace it with a more patient-centered alternative. President Obama and congressional Democrats forced the ACA on Americans with little debate and a severe lack of transparency. Today, increased costs, dwindling choices and decreased quality of care are hurting our constituents.
My Turn: 400,000 children will spend the holidays without a family
Congressman: Here's how you can help reverse that painful statistic, because every child deserves to know love and family. November is National Adoption Month, and I have the immense privilege of co-chairing the Congressional Coalition on Adoption – the largest bicameral, bipartisan caucus in the United States Congress. Our goal is to ensure that every child knows the love, safety and security that can only come from a family. It is so easy to take the institution of family for granted.

Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), the long-time champion of the House's medical cures bill, says time has run out to get the package through before Election Day. Terra Incognita: Oberlin College’s free speech shield for racism and fascism
‘Hello there, my name is Jacob Rothschild...we own your news, the media, your oil and your government.” This was the meme shared on Facebook on December 23, 2014 by Oberlin College assistant professor Joy Karega, alongside her own note that “yep, this family and several others.” She asserted that confronting Jacob Rothschild was part of “challeging [sic], revolting against, and dismantling real power.” Underneath the screenshot of the Rothschilds-control-the-world post were positive comments.
Ending the Stealth Filibuster
Conservatives are angry, and whether they know it or not abuse of the filibuster is a big reason. Republicans hold a 54-46 majority in the Senate, which voters understandably thought would give the GOP the power to resist Barack Obama’s dangerous agenda. But procedural nonsense stands in the way. No major bill (budget reconciliation is an exception) can even be brought to the Senate floor for debate or amendment without a “motion to proceed to consider,” which requires 60 votes to pass.
Iran nuclear agreement is a dangerous mistake
Lawmakers: None of Congress’ elements of a good pact are included in Obama's deal. President Obama has hailed the result of the Iranian nuclear negotiations a "good deal" for America. Optimists label it a gamble. Realists call it what it is, a dangerous mistake. We’re realists, and the evidence for our position is clear.
Want more Apples in Arizona? Reform the tax code
Congressmen: Lower tax rates would put money to work in Arizona and the U.S. Last week, Apple made a landmark announcement for Arizona when it unveiled plans to build a multibillion-dollar "global command center" in Mesa. The data center will bring 500 engineering and construction-related jobs while creating 150 high-paying permanent jobs in our state. According to Apple, its $2 billion investment in Arizona is among the largest the company has ever made.
Congressman: We can't afford Prop. 480
Trent Franks: Health care already costs enough. Why is Maricopa County Integrated Health System piling on more? Arizonans are painfully aware of the skyrocketing costs of health care. Both federal and state governments continue to ask for more tax dollars to pay for Medicaid expansion and the Affordable Care Act. Taxpayers are contributing more than ever for health care for the less fortunate.
