MURRAY, Ky. (WCIA) — Eastern Illinois football got off to a strong start for the 2026 season with a win at Murray State 28-14 on Thursday, August 27. Team captain running back Charles Kellom had a huge day on the ground, rushing for 171 yards on 19 carries and three touchdowns. The senior’s second score came on an 88-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter. Cole LaCrue was the opening game starting quarterback for a second straight season.
