Introduction Over the last two decades (2000–2018), chronic wounds with mixed etiologies were estimated to affect 2.21 per 1,000 population globally [1]. These wounds can be divided into three classes: pressure ulcers/injuries (prolonged bed rest/ICU patients), ischemic leg ulcers (microvascular disease), and diabetic foot ulcers (uncontrolled hyperglycemia) [2].
