Perth may be in for a damp end to the weekend but sunshine is set to return. Cloudy skies dominated most of Sunday morning and into the afternoon, with a forecast top of 21C. The rain is expected to return tonight and into Monday, with a maximum of 20C after a minimum of 10C. The wet weather won’t stick around for long, though, with Perth set to bask in winter sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday. Maximum temperatures of 21C and 22C are forecast, with little to no chance of rain.

The bronze statue of disgraced AFL great Nicky Winmar has been torn down from outside Optus Stadium, less than 48 hours after he was found guilty of violently assaulting a woman. Workers moved in under the cover of darkness early on Sunday to remove the $100,000 sculpture, following an order from Premier Roger Cook in the wake of Winmar’s conviction for dragging a woman by her hair and repeatedly slamming her head into a motel door.
