Abstract Approximately 3000 adult patients are diagnosed with AML in the UK each year. Current intensive treatments are not well-tolerated by elderly patients, and the 5-year survival rate is only 5–15%, highlighting the need for novel and effective therapies. Oncolytic viruses (OVs) preferentially replicate in cancer cells, resulting in direct oncolysis and induction of innate and adaptive anti-tumour immunity. Unfortunately, the efficacy of OVs remains relatively unexplored in AML.

Abstract Ewing sarcoma (EWS) is a rare cancer of the bone and soft tissue, most prevalent in children and young adults. Treatment of EWS has progressed relatively little in over 30 years. Survival rates for patients, particularly those with metastatic and/or relapsed disease, remain poor, highlighting the urgent need for innovative treatment options. We have explored the therapeutic potential of the oncolytic Maraba virus strain MG1.

Abstract Background: There has been limited success of cancer immunotherapies in the treatment of ovarian cancer (OvCa) to date, largely due to the immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment (TME). Tumour-associated macrophages (TAMs) are a major component of both the primary tumour and malignant ascites, promoting tumour growth, angiogenesis, metastasis, chemotherapy resistance and immunosuppression.
