Dramatic walk-off sends Leipsic baseball to DVII state championship

CANTON, Ohio — The motto "never give up" is used quite often in sports. Leipsic High School has certainly relied on that notion throughout its postseason run, but then again what they've done might not even be describable. This program is playing in its first state championship game since 1976 and did so with two consecutive come-from-behind walk-off hits. "I was sitting on the curveball, hoping I can get a fastball," junior John Dewar said.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Seven of the Toledo area's top high school softball hitters converged to Fifth Third Field on Wednesday night for the inaugural Mud Hens High School Home Run Showdown. Each senior got selected to participate throughout the regular season and in total, four northwest Ohio conferences/leagues were represented. When all was said and done, the Northern Lakes League stole the show by claiming the top three spots.

OHSAA State Baseball Semifinals underway in northeast Ohio

AKRON, Ohio — The 2026 OHSAA State Baseball Tournament is underway in northeast Ohio. Between Thurman Munson Stadium in Canton and 7 17 Credit Union Park in Akron, 14 State Semifinal games will be played to set the stage for seven championship matchups. Division V Semifinal: #10 Findlay Liberty-Benton (22-5) vs. Gahanna Columbus Academy (16-16), Thursday, June 11 at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium, 10 a.m. Liberty-Benton's run came to an end, with a 5-2 loss to Columbus Academy.
