I am Umer Farooq Zargar, a freelance journalist based in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, India, South Asia. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism and a master’s in Journalism from the Media Education Research Centre, University of Kashmir.
My work covers climate, conflict, human rights, gender, health, education, politics, migration, livelihoods, tourism, technology, and art and culture. Through reporting, photography, and visual storytelling, I focus on documenting underreported issues, lived experiences, and untold stories from the ground, aiming to amplify voices that often remain unheard.
