1 Introduction Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that arises from a dysregulated host immune response to infection, leading to widespread inflammation, tissue injury, and organ dysfunction (Wiersinga and van der Poll 2022). A hallmark of sepsis is the disruption of cellular metabolism, particularly within the liver and immune system, where excessive production of inflammatory mediators and reactive oxygen species amplifies tissue damage (Caraballo and Jaimes 2019).
