A 76-year-old man was referred after PET-CT follow-up for melanoma revealed a 59×38×38 mm mass in the left inguinal canal (Figure 1). Comparison with previous images revealed growth of the unclear finding. The patient was asymptomatic, in good general health, and father of three biological children. Examination showed an absent left testis in the scrotum, a firm left-sided inguinal mass, and a normal right testis.

Liver fibrosis shows a high morbidity with the risk of hepatic decompensation and hepatocellular carcinoma in advanced stages.1 Early detection and treatment in pre-cirrhotic, reversible stages are therefore warranted.2 The reference standard to stage liver fibrosis is liver biopsy, which is limited to selected patients due to its invasiveness.3 Noninvasive methods such as serum markers and morphologic parameters in ultrasound, computed tomography,4, 5 and MRI6 have a limited accuracy,...
