1. Introduction The adrenal glands, or suprarenal glands, first described in 1552 by Bartholomaeus Eustachius, were not well understood until the 19th century, when Thomas Addison described adrenal insufficiency [1]. The first successful adrenalectomy was performed in the early 1900s [2], marking the beginning of surgical interventions for adrenal diseases.
