Synthesis of Oxazoline-spirocyclohexadienone via Electrochemical Dearomatization of Phenol Derivatives
Dearomatization reactions have garnered significant attention in synthetic chemistry as an efficient strategy for rapidly constructing complex polycyclic frameworks from readily accessible aromatics [[1], [2], [3], [4]].

Revolutionizing IBD research with on-chip models of disease modeling and drug screening
Section snippets Advancing IBD research through high-fidelity simulation models IBD, including Crohn's disease (CD) (see Glossary) and ulcerative colitis (UC), affects nearly seven million people globally. These chronic immune-mediated disorders cause cyclical inflammation, with symptoms varying by location and severity, commonly presenting as diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss, fever, rectal bleeding, perianal disease, malnutrition, abdominal masses, and growth retardation in youth.
COMBINED ECHOCARDIOGRAPHER' AND CLINICANS' EDUCATION LEADS TO MORE PROMPT SUSPICION DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH ATTR CARDIAC AMYLOIDOSIS; A MULTI-FACETED QUALITY IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVE
ATTR Cardiac Amyloidosis (ATTR-CM) is an underdiagnosed cause of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, with some patients waiting up to 7 years and >2 cardiologist visits before diagnosis. Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is the cardiac imaging modality used to raise suspicion for ATTR-CM; yet it must be followed by pyrophosphate scan (PYP) for confirmation. Unfortunately, our center, like many others, struggles with delays in the suspicion, diagnosis and treatment initiation.
Selective regulation of nanosheets inside or outside carbon nanoboxes for advanced supercapacitors
The prosperity of electric vehicles has stimulated the development of novel efficient power source devices [1], [2], [3], [4]. Supercapacitors have been placed great expectations in the application of braking energy recovery system of urban hybrid electric vehicle owing to the advantage of fast charging/discharging rate, long-term cycling stability and excellent safety performance [5], [6], [7].
Stability of plane Couette flow with constant wall transpiration
Plane Couette flow with constant wall transpiration, i.e., constant blowing from below and constant suction from above, is a solution of the Navier-Stokes equations in terms of exponentials. It is characterized by two Reynolds numbers Re and ReV, where Re parametrizes the moving wall and ReV describes the influence of the transpiration. For this flow the modified Orr-Sommerfeld equation admits one of the very few exact solutions in terms of hypergeometric functions.

Enhancement of blue and ultraviolet components in PCF-based supercontinuum generation through inter-modal dispersive-wave radiation
Abstract Broadband supercontinuum (SC) light sources generated through nonlinear effects in solid-core photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) have been widely used in spectroscopy, metrology, and microscopy, leading to great application successes. The short-wavelength extension of such SC sources, a longstanding challenge, has been the subject of intensive study over the past two decades.
Wax-wetting sponges for oil droplets recovery from frigid waters
Abstract Energy-efficient recovery of oil droplets from ice-cold water, such as oil sands tailings, marine, and arctic oil spills, is challenging. In particular, due to paraffin wax crystallization at low temperatures, the crude oil exhibits high viscosity, making it difficult to collect using simple solutions like sponges. Here, we report a wax-wetting sponge designed by conforming to the thermoresponsive microstructure of crude oil droplets.
Golden Knights, Lightning lick wounds after playoff defeats
Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper and Vegas coach Gerard Gallant each said it was their team’s worst performances of the post-season. “I didn’t like the game we played, that was the main thing,” Gallant said Sunday before he and the Golden Knights left for San Jose.
Vegas Golden Knights fall in second overtime to San Jose Sharks | The Star
LAS VEGAS—Logan Couture’s second goal of the game, on the power play at 5:13 of the second overtime, lifted the San Jose Sharks to a 4-3 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night, tying their Western Conference semifinal series at one game apiece. Moments after Vegas’ Jon Merrill was called for hooking, Couture found the back of the net, as the Sharks stole home-ice advantage from Vegas.
The Epidemiology and Characteristics of Q fever and Co-infections with Scrub Typhus, Murine Typhus or Leptospirosis in Taiwan: A Nationwide Database Study - Lai - 2016 - Zoonoses and Public Health - Wiley Online Library
|
Q fever (QF) is a worldwide zoonosis associated with outbreaks. Only a few nationwide studies regarding the surveillance and epidemiology of human QF have been reported. Although QF is endemic in Taiwan, a nationwide database investigation of the epidemiology and characteristics of QF and its associations with scrub typhus (ST), murine typhus (MT) and leptospirosis (LS) has never been reported.
