Role of zinc oxide nanoparticles on phytostabilization efficacy of Raphanus sativus for cadmium polluted soil under microplastic stress

Abstract The accumulation of Cadmium (Cd) and microplastics (MPs) in agricultural soils poses a serious threat to plant growth, crop productivity, and food safety. This study investigates the combined effect of Cd and MPs on growth, antioxidant enzymes, and lipid peroxidation of Raphanus sativus, as well as the potential of Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) in alleviating the combined Cd and MPs stress. Seeds were primed with different doses of ZnO NPs (40, 80, and 160 mg L−1).

Abstract Arsenic (As) is a toxic metalloid, and its increasing contamination in soil has become an important public health concern. Nevertheless, cerium dioxide nanoparticles (CeO2 NPs) have shown potential for phytostabilization of metal polluted soil. Currently during pot trial, As toxicity (As30, As70 mg kg−1) decreased growth, photosynthetic pigments, gas exchange attributes, membrane stability indices (MSIs) and relative water contents (RWCs) of Catharanthus roseus.

Pakistan Press International wire agency based in Karachi, Pakistan from 1988 to 1990 worked for them as sub-editor on news desk and reporter

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes I started off my journalistic career with a wire service on a typewriter. I took courses and use all 10 fingers to type.

How is social media changing news?

It is allowing the reader to have a voice and say in how the media covers or should cover a story.
