Justice Gorsuch, the Ten Commandments, and Our National Identity Our founding principles came from the God referenced in the Declaration of Independence, who is the God of the Bible.
In 1980, God watched our nation remove displays of the Ten Commandments in classrooms after the Supreme Court held, in Stone v. Graham, thatit was unconstitutional for God’s law to hang in public schools. The Supreme Court’s 1980 decision was not an act of neutrality. It told a watching God that our nation would thrive better without His influence. The Supreme Court and our nation now have the chance to send a different message to God.

Visionary Marriage
Sign up for a six month free trial of The Stand Magazine! Sign Up Now Marriage doesn't get the respect it deserves these days. In a culture that's constantly questioning whether it even matters, this conversation is a breath of fresh air. In this episode of By Design, Walker Wildmon sits down with Dr. Rob Rienow, founder of Visionary Family Ministries, to talk about why godly marriage is foundational to everything. The conversation starts where it should: Scripture.
We can’t afford another ‘Trust me’ Supreme Court appointment
OPINION: Speculation about a potential retirement by Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. has intensified over the past two months. It began on March 20 after the 76-year-old justice fell ill at a Federalist Society event in Philadelphia and was taken to a hospital out of caution. Talk increased when President Trump told Maria Bartiromo on April 14 in a Fox Business interview that he is prepared to nominate new justices, potentially up to three, if vacancies arise.
Who Will Protect The Constitution After Thomas And Alito?
The late Justice Antonin Scalia warned that nominating federal judges had become an “eminently political, results-oriented process.” In recent years, that concern has only intensified. In my recent op-ed, I highlighted the stakes of a Supreme Court vacancy, focusing on the Court’s voting dynamics and possible implications for constitutionalist rulings if the next justice fails to be an exceptional nominee.

Four Books on Marriage
Sign up for a six month free trial of The Stand Magazine! Sign Up Now There is no shortage of opinions about marriage. Everyone has a take, and it can get pretty noisy out there. In this episode of By Design, Walker and Lexie Wildmon cut through the noise and get back to the source, taking a close look at what Jesus actually said about marriage in Matthew 19 and what that means for us today.
A Vacancy That Could Redefine The Supreme Court | U. S. Politics | Before It's News
President Donald Trump’s recent mention of Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz as a potential Supreme Court nominee as well as current speculation that Justice Samuel Alito may retire this year has renewed focus on when the next Supreme Court vacancy might occur and what it could mean for the Court.
WALKER WILDMON: A Vacancy That Could Redefine The Supreme Court
President Donald Trump’s recent mention of Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz as a potential Supreme Court nominee as well as current speculation that Justice Samuel Alito may retire this year has renewed focus on when the next Supreme Court vacancy might occur and what it could mean for the Court. The Supreme Court is often described in terms of its outcomes, but far less attention is paid to the philosophies that produce those outcomes.
Walmart just took two major steps forward for political neutrality
Companies are ditching activism and prioritizing some of the most important issues in our culture — and Walmart is leading that trend. As shareholders make their voices heard at the biggest brands on earth, American Family Association has been engaging with Walmart regarding its plans to sell mifepristone, one of the drugs most commonly used in chemical abortions.
Stop criminalizing pro-life Americans
The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, originally enacted in 1994 under the Clinton administration, was sold to the public as a fair mechanism to prevent violence and obstruction at abortion clinics. Since that time, and probably by design, it has become a tool for selective prosecution and ideological intimidation.

Creating a Lasting Marriage
Sign up for a six month free trial of The Stand Magazine! Sign Up Now In this episode of By Design, the topic of marriage and family is viewed through a biblical lens, emphasizing that the foundation of a strong marriage is rooted in understanding God's design for relationships. This concept is beautifully illustrated in Matthew 19, where one man and one woman are united for life—not as a mere societal construct, but as a divine institution established by God Himself.
Can Trump deliver another courageous, tested judicial nominee?
OPINION: Lawyer Erin Morrow Hawley has reportedly been in contact with the White House to express interest in the judicial vacancy on the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Mrs. Hawley is battle-tested and bench-ready, precisely the type of courageous and qualified nominee that meets President Trump’s standard for nomination to the federal circuit courts.
Resolving Disagreements in Marriage

Missouri’s Erin Morrow Hawley is the constitutional judge America needs - The Heartlander
On Oct. 24, Judge Duane Benton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit informed President Trump he would be taking senior status. The time is now to identify a strong, constitutionalist nominee for the Eighth Circuit. Erin Morrow Hawley is that nominee. Hawley is senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and vice president of ADF’s Center for Life & Regulatory Practice. Prior to joining ADF, Hawley was an appellate attorney at Kirkland & Ellis, Bancroft and King & Spalding.

Major development in Apple Communication Safety for children
About two years ago, American Family Association decided to use our investment portfolio to promote pro-family proposals with some of America’s biggest publicly traded companies. In the past year alone, we have spoken to shareholders, board members, and executives of Schwab, Apple, John Deere, Intel, and Verizon. Earlier this year, I wrote about the Apple corporation and the steps it should take to protect America’s children.

From defender to nominee: What we still don’t know about Emil Bove
Emil Bove defended President Trump from some of the gravest abuses of the criminal justice system in our nation’s history. These abuses include high-profile lawfare such as the criminal prosecution resulting from President Trump’s legitimate challenge of the very questionable 2020 election, the prosecution involving the business records in New York, and a challenge to the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith to investigate alleged “election interference” by the president.

One Hundred Years After Scopes - the Trial That Changed the Culture
This July marks the 100th anniversary of the Scopes “Monkey” Trial — a pivotal moment in American history that reverberates far beyond the courtroom of Dayton, Tennessee. While often caricatured in popular memory as a clash between faith and science, the 1925 trial was far more than a debate over Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. It was — and remains — a flashpoint in the cultural and legal battle over the soul of the nation.
An opportunity for Mississippi judges
We are living in unprecedented times. Many current judges are abusing judicial power for political purposes; therefore, public respect for the administration of justice is quickly diminishing. Appallingly, within the past few days, a judge in Wisconsin intentionally misdirected federal agents away from an illegal alien they were about to arrest. The man was being charged with three counts of battery and domestic abuse.
We’re Apple shareholders - and we’re pushing the company to better protect children
Apple won the battle for the most heartwarming holiday ad last Christmas season. Advertising the new hearing aid feature in its Airpods Pro 2, the company left melted hearts and watery eyes the country over, with a story about a hearing-impaired father (left) being able to be present more fully in his daughter’s life. It’s a profoundly pro-life and pro-family message – and as vice president of the American Family Association, these are two things I can get behind.

Protecting Our Children Against Ideology and Irreversible Harm
The debate over gender-related surgeries and treatments for minors is not just another ideological skirmish — it’s a turning point in how we define humanity, responsibility and the role of government. Across the nation, courts and legislatures are grappling with questions that would have been unthinkable just a generation ago: Should minors — whose brains are not even fully developed — be allowed to make permanent decisions about their bodies that could haunt them for the rest of their lives?
America’s children are under attack at school
Imagine, for a moment, being a fifth grader going back to school this month. After class, you sit down at a computer in the school library to do some research for a homework assignment. And then you see this article headline on the school research database: “Wanna see banned footage? Try Pornhub…” along with a live URL link that takes you straight to thePornhub website at the bottom of the article.

The cure to loneliness is what we are told to reject Getty Images We are living in the middle of a tragic irony in America today. Despite being the most connected generation in the history of civilization thanks to the internet, smartphones, and social media, today’s generation is also the loneliest and most depressed generation in recorded history. Multiple studies have found this to be true in recent years.

Tell the Truth to Alabama Parents
My mother taught me never to lie. My father also taught me to protect the innocent and the vulnerable, especially young children. In the Bible, we read the same thing when Jesus teaches, to put it mildly, that it would be better for a person to go jump in a lake than to cause a child to stumble into sin (Matthew 18:6). As a parent, I am passing these values on to my children. I hold myself to the same standards.
America Is in Dire Need of a Course Correction
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. After one year of the Biden presidency, it is clear that his administration is focused on weakening and even removing the constitutional underpinnings of America. The same underpinnings that our Founding Fathers put in place to safeguard us from human nature. The question is— are we surprised to see where we are as a country? I’m not. When I look around at our culture, I see darkness.
VA Governor Prays in Jesus’ Name
Walker Wildmon, Tim Wildmon, and Ed Vitagliano discuss why and how Christian conservatives in Virginia are helping shift Virginia from trending blue for nearly a decade. They now have a conservative governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general. Governor Glenn Youngkin’s prayer concludes this Reason & Company episode and is worth watching in full for anyone who has ever prayed for America.

WALKER WILDMON: Democrats are not the working-class party
For years, we’ve been told that the Democratic Party is the party of the working class. Democrats have traditionally been associated with the workers unions and government programs that are aimed at assisting middle- to low-income families. I would submit to you that this association is built on faulty ground. Democratic elected officials in Washington have made a few major policy decisions that have had tremendous negative effects on middle-to low-income families.
WALKER WILDMON: Biden hurting America by undoing Trump policies
I’ve written in the past about how President Joe Biden is no political moderate, despite what some political commentators claimed during the 2020 election cycle. Quite frankly, the last few months have not been good for our country. There are specific areas where the Biden administration is completely destroying America by taking the country even beyond the failed policies of the Obama administration when Biden was vice president. The first area of major regression is America’s border security.
How Socialists Used Teachers Unions Such as the NEA to Destroy Education
Reading Time: 8 minutes When examining the hydra that is the collectivist “education” establishment that dominates public schools in the United States, among the most important tentacles have been the teachers’ unions—especially the National Education Association (NEA). Along with other leading unions, the NEA and its affiliates at the state and local level played a leading role in transforming American education into the dangerous disaster that it has become.
WALKER WILDMON: Mississippi now leading when it comes to following science
Flashback to 2014 when the Obama administration sent guidance to all school districts in America encouraging them to implement policies that embrace gender confusion. This letter intimidated many districts to initiate dangerous policies despite the fact that the Obama administration had no legal authority to force such policies on school districts. For years, Democratic politicians and liberal special interest groups have promoted confusion when it comes to human sexuality.

Special interest money is what’s wrong with Washington
Walker Wildmon AFA assistant to the president Editor’s note: This column was first posted on The Stand, AFA’s website (afa.net/thestand) in March 2019. Unfortunately, nothing appears to have changed. October 2020 – Year after year, conservatives are frustrated by the lack of change in Washington. Conservatives even elected Donald Trump as president in order to shake up the system, yet Congress maintains its low approval rating and lack of progress on major issues.
The Democratic Party-No More Moderates
The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com. With the rise of Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primaries, I have caught myself calling other Democratic candidates “moderates” compared to Sanders. The reality is there are no moderates left in the Democratic Party. The Democratic National Convention published its party platform in 2016, which outlines the party’s position on a wide array of issues.
The Purpose of Family
Imagine a stable and prosperous government without families. Society would be full of anarchy if not for the family structure. It naturally provides checks and balances, and some form of order. Imagine a church without families participating. It would be very difficult for the body of Christ to flourish without mothers and fathers discipling their children and providing a solid foundation for the church to build on. When God designed the family, it wasn’t a haphazard or random design.
The Family Dinner is a Discipleship Opportunity
One of the most famous and important meals in the history of humanity was when Jesus sat down with his disciples for the Last Supper immediately prior to His arrest and subsequent crucifixion (Matthew 26:26-29). Jesus also reclined at the table at other times during his ministry on earth. InMatthew 9:10Jesus sat at the dinner table with sinners and tax collectors.
The origins of family
In order to value something, we need to understand its origin and purpose. Modern higher education teaches that family is a social construct; simply a man-made phenomenon. This means that what society views as a family might differ substantially from what the Bible says about family. The reality is that family is an inherently divine institution, created and defined by God Himself. The family was the first recorded institution that God put in place.
The promise of a secure border
In July President Trump wrote, “I would be willing to ‘shut down’ government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall! Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally, go to a system of Immigration based on MERIT! We need great people coming into our Country!” It appears that the July promise might come to fruition in the coming days considering Congress must pass various budget bills before December 21.
