Evolutionary engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae: Crafting a synthetic methylotroph via self-reprogramming
Research Article SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY INTRODUCTION Renewable one-carbon (C1) substrates, particularly methanol and formate, present an appealing alternative to traditional sugar-based substances for biochemical production (1, 2). As methanol and formate can be efficiently derived from CO2 through advanced electrocatalysis methods, their utilization in microbial fermentation heralds a future of sustainable and carbon-neutral biochemical production (3, 4).

An amidase gene ipaH is responsible for the initial degradation step of iprodione in strain Paenarthrobacter sp. YJN-5
Iprodione [3-(3,5-dichlorophenyl) N-isopropyl-2,4-dioxoimidazolidine-1-carboxamide] is a highly effective broad-spectrum dicarboxamide fungicide. Several bacteria with iprodione degrading capabilities have been reported; however, the enzymes and genes involved in this process have not been characterized. In this study, an iprodione-degrading strain, Paenarthrobacter sp. YJN-5, was isolated and characterized.
