Observation of stick-slip behavior with structural superlubric characteristics
Abstract Stick-slip is typically associated with high friction and wear, whereas superlubricity is characterized by ultralow friction and negligible wear. Can these two seemingly opposite phenomena coexist? Here, we present an experimental observation of stick-slip behavior that exhibits structural superlubric characteristics, in a microscale single-crystalline Au mesa sliding against a single-crystalline graphite substrate.
Predicting the risk for distant metastasis in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma and assessing the survival benefit of induction therapy - Scientific Reports
Abstract Hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPSCC) has a poor prognosis due, in large part, to distant metastasis (DM). Although induction therapy (IT) can reduce DM rates, its translation to an overall survival (OS) benefit remains unclear, highlighting the need for tools to identify patients who would benefit most from IT. This study developed a nomogram to predict the risk for DM in patients with HPSCC, and assessed the survival benefit of IT across risk groups.
Highly Efficient and Genotype‐Independent Genetic Transformation System in Sugarcane
Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.), a globally important sugar crop, is characterised by a large genome, high heterozygosity and allopolyploid nature, leading to prolonged and inefficient hybrid breeding (Wang, Pan, et al. 2025). Genetic transformation has emerged as a crucial approach for sugarcane genetic improvement and molecular research (Wang, Gou, et al. 2025).
