Super-enhancer–driven SGK1 activates polyamine metabolism to promote autoimmune uveitis
Abstract INTRODUCTION RESULTS DISCUSSION MATERIALS AND METHODS Acknowledgments Supplementary Materials REFERENCES Information & Authors Metrics & Citations View Options References Figures Tables Media Share This article has 0 eLetter . Abstract Uveitis, a leading cause of blindness, is driven by dysregulated immune responses, particularly autoreactive T cells. Despite advances in understanding its pathogenesis, key regulatory mechanisms remain elusive.
NAD+ modulates mitochondrial vulnerability in MERTK-associated models of retinitis pigmentosa
|
Abstract Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is the most common inherited retinal degenerative disease leading to blindness. RP is characterized by progressive loss of photoreceptors and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), leading to retinal degeneration. The mechanisms that initiate RP and drive retinal vulnerability are poorly understood, and new strategies for preventing and treating RP are urgently needed.

Metal ions in aging and ocular diseases: biology, pathophysiology, and therapeutic strategies
Abstract Metal ions are indispensable for sustaining normal cellular functions and preserving tissue integrity, as they participate in enzymatic catalysis, signal transduction, and antioxidant defense. However, dysregulation of metal ion homeostasis, particularly during aging, disrupts cellular balance and significantly drives the development and progression of age-related ocular diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts.
Efficacy and safety of minocycline in retinitis pigmentosa: a prospective, open-label, single-arm trial - Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy
Abstract Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is characterized by progressive photoreceptor cells death accelerated by the proliferation and activation of microglia pathologically. No consensus exists on the treatment. Minocycline is recognized as a microglia inhibitor with great anti-inflammatory and neuro-protective functions. However, efficacy of minocycline in RP patients is lacking.
Exosome-based crosstalk in glaucoma pathogenesis: a focus on oxidative stress and neuroinflammation

Advances in pathogenesis and treatment of ocular involvement in Behcet’s disease
1 Introduction Behcet’s disease (BD) is a chronic multi-systemic disease pictured by relapsing-remitting oral aphthous ulcers, genital ulcers, ocular inflammatory involvements, skin impairment, and numerous other symptoms (1). BD is more prevalent in countries along the ancient Silk Road, from East Asian countries to Mediterranean basin (2). Turkey was reported to have the highest prevalence rate around the world with up to 420 cases in every 100,000 residents (3).

The cAMP-Adenosine Feedback Loop Maintains the Suppressive Function of Regulatory T Cells
Wenru Su, Xiaoqing Chen, Wenjie Zhu, Jianfeng Yu, Weihua Li, Yingqi Li, Zhuang Li, Nancy Olsen, Dan Liang and Song Guo Zheng J Immunol September 15, 2019, 203 (6) 1436-1446; DOI: https://doi.org/10.4049/jimmunol.1801306 Key Points Intracellular cAMP regulates CD39-dependent adenosine production in Tregs. Extracellular cAMP directly participates in Treg-derived adenosine production. Increasing the intracellular cAMP level improves the therapeutic efficacy of iTregs.

Correction: Rapamycin Is Neuroprotective in a Rat Chronic Hypertensive Glaucoma Model
There is an error in Fig 4A of this article [1]. The top row of panels are incorrectly labelled “Intact”. These images were taken from an adjacent section of the same sample as the "COH" images, but are stained with isotype control antibody. A corrected Fig 4 is provided in which these images are re-labelled as isotype control. Images for a stained section from intact rat retina collected in the same experiment are now added.

NLRP3 inflammasome: a likely target for the treatment of allergic diseases
Allergic diseases, such as asthma, rhinitis, dermatitis, conjunctivitis, and anaphylaxis, have recently become a global public health concern. According to previous studies, the NLRP3 inflammasome is a multi‐protein complex known to be associated with many inflammatory conditions.
