What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job in the news business was delivering newspapers! My first job in what became my journalist career was as a copy runner.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I took an electric typewriter to college. Computers were in the library labs, and I did use them. But many of my papers were typed.
How is social media changing news?
News has become "What's happening now?" rather than "What happened yesterday?"

Why did you become a journalist?
I have wanted to work in the news business since I was in junior high school. The only question was: which format or media to focus on.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I worked on The Chatter, student newspaper at Fremont Ross High School in Fremont, Ohio, serving as its editor-in-chief during 1983-84.
