According to a city spokesperson, a driver was allegedly going 62 miles per hour (mph) in a 35 mph zone. When the officer initiated the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — An officer with the Springfield Police Division is on paid administrative leave following a traffic stop Tuesday. According to a city spokesperson, a driver was allegedly going 62 miles per hour (mph) in a 35 mph zone. When the officer initiated the traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene. The officer did not pursue the vehicle at that time, alleging that the vehicle was driving recklessly.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Drivers traveling around portions of the region could notice OVI checkpoints Friday night. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said more than half of the fatal crashes it has seen involve alcohol. As football season kicks off, troopers are ramping up efforts to remove impaired drivers off of the roadways.
